Cowra, located in the Central West region of New South Wales, is a hub of art, history and culture. There are a number of galleries, museums and historical sites to explore in and around the town. In this article, we will categorise, list and describe each site.
Galleries:
Cowra Art Gallery: Cowra Art Gallery is a contemporary gallery space that exhibits works by local, regional and national artists. The gallery houses a diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, ceramics and mixed media installations. Entry is free of charge and the gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
Central West Photography Club: The Central West Photography Club is a community-based photography group that holds regular exhibitions of their members' works. The group meets once a month to share ideas and techniques and to explore the art of photography. Entry to their exhibitions is free of charge.
Red Door Gallery: Red Door Gallery is a contemporary art space that showcases the works of emerging and established artists from the region. The gallery is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm.
Museums:
Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre: The Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre is a unique museum that showcases the Japanese culture and history in Australia.
